Camping and hunting season just don't mix!

So we have been really missing the awesome Rocky Mountains and realizing how little we took advantage of the most beautiful place ever (Durango). So, we decided to go camping. We got all packed and drove an hour and hiked along the Ocmulgee River Trail. A few miles in we decided to set up camp. We got all settled and as soon as we sat, we heard gunshots. Then a hunter comes walking down the hill. He has his huge hunting gun and with the worst southern accent I have ever heard said that he came down because he thought he heard deer. After talking to him for a couple minutes we find out it is one of the busiest deer hunting weekends of the year. We continued to hear gunshots and whistles. And I thought to myself, you never know when the next Dick Cheney will walk down that hill and shoot me! So, finally decided to pack up. Not a very fun trip, but we tried.

Paul's 24th birthday!

I know many of you called Paul on his special day, but I felt like writing a blog anyways. We had a great time out to dinner with friends on Friday night and a blast at the Hawks game on Saturday. It was a sold-out game in which they lost by one point in overtime. Now, the Hawks are horrible and we wondered how in the world the game would be sold out. We then found out that ATL rapper TI was performing after the show. Sadly, we miss the concert. But, I saw one of my favorite rappers at the game! The one and only Lil' John. As Paul would like to say, "the king of black trash." He doesn't appreciate hip hop like his beautiful wife does :) Here is picture of him. It amazes me how much of a differnt world we live in in the Dirrty South! Love Erin

I don't know what to say!

I couldn't believe the news I heard last night. Ted Haggard accused of buying sex from a male escort in Denver. My first thought, "I knew something was fishy about him." My second, "it is election time and so the rumors are running like crazy". I can only imagine the buzz around Colorado Springs. And talk about a bad day to tell people I am Christian and that I am from Colorado Springs. Really hope all of these allegations are false, although now he is saying that some of them may have truth to them. What is the world does that mean? And last night he said all of the allegations were false. But now there is some truth to them. But, truth or no truth, hopefully it can be a wake-up call to the Christian community how it is we deal with homosexuals. It is sad how taboo homosexuality is in the church and it becomes this sin that know one is ever to admit, but pay money to someone on the side for sex or have an affair and keep it a secret. Why can't we be just as loving and caring for those who are homosexual. This is so incredibly fustrating to me. Anyways, kind of speechless and interested to see what will happen.

P.S. Can I also say how easy it was to find a portrait of Ted. That man puts pictures of himself on EVERYTHING!

WHO-DUN-IT?

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Halloween! We did something we have never done before. A dinner murder mystery. It was so fun! Everyone got dressed up and really into it. I was Molly, the promiscuous flapper. Paul, was the most famous gambler in all of Chicago. Unfortunately neither of us committed the murder although we tried to kill the guy. I was great fun!

Man vs the Mouse and there was a tie
So, I have been trying to rid our house of a little mouse. Over that past two weeks we have had two traps set and ready to go every night with some kind of food. Peanut Butter, cheese, egg, and butter. Every night this mouse sets off the trap and the dogs bark and there is a big ruckus in the Stroup household. And then when I get up in the morning, looking forward to throwing a dead mouse away before Erin sees it, nothing, just a foodless trap. But, last night the winds changed. I got up to make my coffee thinking I would just see another trap with no food, but this time is was a bloddy scene. Blood all over the countertop, but no mouse! GRRRR! The mouse still got away. So now I am beting we have a dying or dead mouse in our walls. The battle continues!

Petit Le Mans
So this is my first post on the super famous
PaulandErinStroups blog. So to make it extra special I will write about
something I did two weeks ago. I have already told everyone about it too. So if
bored please just make alot of comments about how cool this short story is. So
I went to the Petit Le Mans in
with my Uncle Don and my cousin Daniel. It was a blast (even if long)! The race
started at 11:45am and was 10 hours long. We got nice and early at
all the rich guys show off their poorly driven super costly sports cars. After
that we watched the race for a couple minutes and back to walking around and
eating. So most of the race was walking around till there was a crash then
watching it on the speed channel’s jumbotron. By the end of the race we got to
sit down and watch the last hour and saw a couple more crashes. I really enjoyed
the race but next year I may just watch the short 3 hour clip show on Speed.
